Let me introduce myselfFebruary 20, 2018 12:00 pm
Hi, I’m Rebecca. I run the day-to-day of Raus. A couple things about me …
- I can’t stand the sound of people eating
- I love where I live (Kelowna)
- I love the snow. A lot
- I completed a spartan race this year and it was brutal (probably should’ve trained)
- I love to scuba dive and be in the water in any capacity
- I just got back from Thailand and it was one of the best experiences of my life
- I would rather be outside.
- I own and drive a scooter whom I named Richard
- I work with a total stud that I have been married to for almost 8 years ( his name is Lenny and we’ll do one of these for him at a later date!)
I started Raus in early 2016. After a 50 cm day that shut down our small(ish) town, closed schools and caused a few of us to call in sick for work (cough cough) I decided that no one should miss out on days like this. After an amazing powder day with old friends and new friends I came up with the idea of Raus. Now to be fair – it didn’t all happen right away. After searching for the right people to work with, crashes and a lot of NO’s (but juuuuust enough YES’s) , I proudly launched Raus in December of 2016. At the time it was just 2 people and a fantastic development team. We poured our heart and soul into it for that first season. We had amazing resorts that supported us and continue to support us to this day. As the user base for Raus grew and more people started hearing about it and passing it along, our vision for what Raus could be grew too.
We want to encourage people to get outside and to go explore. Getting to the mountains, lakes and all places in between shouldn’t be hard. And it definitely shouldn’t be expensive. We started looking for roof boxes for ourselves to help take all our stuff out with us and we were shocked by the price tags. There’s no way we thought, that a piece of plastic strapped to the roof of your car should cost $800+. Could we do the same thing other companies are doing but make it affordable? Yep we can. One year after launching Raus, we proudly received our first order of Raus Roof Boxes and priced them waaaay below the competitors.
On Wednesday February 21st we’re opening up the warehouse to meet you. Don’t want to buy a box? All good, come talk to us about snowboarding and skiing, mountains and waterfalls. If you’re in Kelowna, we’ll be at 3306 Appalosa Rd, Unit 8 from 3-6pm
When I started Raus, I thought it would be better if it looked like a big company right away. I tried to hid away the smallness of the company and that it was still just a start up. It took me a year to realize that’s not what I wanted and that’s not what others wanted to see. So this is me, and this is us and this is Raus. We’re still little but we’re growing everyday.
