Big White is home to the Raus crew. We grew up learning to ski/ride 45 minutes from where we called home and as we grew, so did the Mountain. We watched as new lifts, runs and areas were opened up. We were a part of it as it transformed from our small community hill to a world renowned family resort. As awkward teenagers wanting to escape we found ourselves free at the Mountain. Gondolas, condos, chalets and skating rinks were added and moved. Beginners learn to ski and ride in areas that were never accessible to us.
When we moved out we moved up. Spending a season working at Big White Resort isn’t a thing that a lot of Kelownians are able to boast about. We did. We were the anomaly with eh’s echoing through a sea of g’days, and we loved it.
With this being our start up year we looked at Big White through a set of new eyes. After over 20 years of exploring this Mountain – we were able to explore it once again in a new light. Not just a playground but now an office too.
Big White had an amazing year and we were pumped to be a part of it. Opening weekend blew us away as we found deep powder to test these ol’ legs out on for first season runs. No friends on a powder day? Nah the more the merrier
We had countless powder days – tried and failed new tricks
We joined in on the fun of Big Whites first annual Slush Cup and wished the season could just continue on.
We rode, we laughed, we ate and we drank. And it was the best damn year. Sometimes it takes leaving home to realize how much you really do love and appreciate it. Big White will always be home – and we’ll always be back.
See it for yourself, until then-
